Old Gooner's thoughts on: Aston Villa vs Arsenal
No goals but two more injuries, one a great deal more serious than the other if it keeps the Verminator out for any length of time. Having said that, it was good to see Sol so dominant last night. He and Billy G were really good for the most part and with Gael in particular getting a roasting, their experience was a godsend. Generally, whilst the game was exciting and especially in the second half, end to end, it was a ''bitsa'' performance. Bits of good masked by bits of bloody awful. Probably the draw was a fair result. For sure, our best period came when the great Dane appeared for the first time in months. Some ring rustiness but at last somebody could make sense of the high up and unders that Almunia seems to think are correct for the dwarf brigade. Maybe he's right, we do get a lot of throw-ins from misplaced headers. Twice the woodwork came to Villa's rescue, which given last season's game, was probably justice. Cesc's body swerve that took him past Petrov was out of this world and it was ironic that after he'd hit the post, either Tomas or Rambo would have had an easyish tap in had they not got in each other's way. Tomas hitting the bar in the second half suggested that it was not going to be our night...it really did look easier for him to score but doesn't it always when it's you watching rather than you playing?
