Old Gooner's thoughts on: Stoke City vs Arsenal
Based on the thought that the glass is half full...a lot of positives from today. Cesc is now Captain Invincible and will never need a rest. Thomas and Coquelin both started a more serious game. Sol came back and did well. We started almost a 3rd team given those out with injuries (10) plus those that were rested after Wednesday (9). Unlike some querying Billy G's tackle which collected a foot, we didn't moan and groan about that tackle on Vela from Shawcross that started at the knee but just managed to collect the shin. After all, it's a man's game, Shawcross is English and Vela is one of those Mexican bandidos who'd cut your throat as soon as look at you. Not so? I await the newspaper inquests tomorrow with interest. But with no fears of seeing anything. And, for much of the game we looked more likely to be the winners, unlike when we departed the Carling Cup. So, RIP the FA Cup for another year. For the glass half empty brigade, I'm sure wide ranging negative comments will be available from other sources. Let's face it, there will be plenty so it shouldn't be too difficult to find them.
