Old Gooner's thoughts on: Arsenal vs Burnley
Two strange things about yesterday... Remember when we deservedly lost to Burnley in the League Cup? We actually could have won about 6-2 had our Great Dane been in shooting form. He managed to continue this run yesterday. Question: a) Does Jensen have an evil eye on Nic? or b) Bribe him with Mom's home made Danish pastries? or c) Is Nic worried about giving his fellow countryman a very hard time? Answers on a post-card please. The other oddity was Theo. Following Fat Frankie's appalling miss from Theo's best pass of the season on Wednesday night, yesterday I seriously wondered if: a) there was a conspiracy not to score from a Theo pass or b) players were so amazed at Theo providing an "assist" pass that mentally they were a yard or two off the pace. Lord knows he put on more gilt edged passes yesterday than his combined total for the season. And he scored a great goal. And he looked like a gooner...especially when he went for a bit of handbags at 5 paces when Fox tried to clatter him. He was in fact very close to being man of the match but Sami to me took pride of place. Best performance for a long time and that chip to set up Cesc will live in most memories long after this game is forgotten. Manny Eboue also looked very lively...and like Sami's chip, his back heel flip to Cesc which was close to being converted really was very skilful...as was Andrey's getting thick cotton through the eye of a very small needle. Let's hope they continue making the chances...and converting them, particularly when Bill Phrown is on the sidelines next week. First though, the second half of Porto. I'll be happy with 4 again. And even happier if Cesc's injury proves to be minor. Post match AW said it could have been 4,5 or even 6. He was wrong. 7,8 or even 9 were there for the taking yet we almost made a pig's ear of it. Finally some light relief: http://www.tottenhamblog.com/2010/03/05/being-related-to-gooners-my-pain/
