Old Gooner's thoughts on: Chelsea vs Arsenal
Well at least it was a 33 1/3% improvement over the Chel$ki game at Ashburton. No change from the drog's bollocks though, who once again "didn't do much" to quote AW. 12 goals against us in 12 games should raise some questions and if that little fact isn't enough, then one must chuck in the extra fact that he's never scored against MFU. To my mind, that is more than worrying and says more about us on all sorts of levels. Faced with a different quality of defenders than say the likes of Wolves or Blackburn, the speed of our build up is such that by the time we get there, the stronger sides have 7 or 8 defenders in the box and what used to be clear chances become half chances. Fair enough, AA could well have equalised but for Cech's left boot, but that was our one and only chance that was attempted. Several others were 'maybe' had the shot been taken when it was on...Nasri's opportunity in the second half being a classic example. Never was the absence of that Japanese striker Chu Tyuk Unt more sorely missed. And RvP's absence doesn't help either. But for all the frailties, the team at least tried; played some decent football and had most of the possession. But, what's the point if it all ends in tears? To end these musings, a quick poll. If birching was still allowed in the educational system: Is Theo waiting to get 6 strokes across the backside from the headmaster? Or, has he just received 6 from the headmaster and is desperately trying not to cry? Playing somebody on the wing to mark their full back is a different strategy but goes against all the principles that I grew up with.
